The focus of our workshop will be on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) – an architecture that allows Large Language Models to be connected to existing business logic in a controlled, targeted manner.

Participants will learn:

• What MCP is and how the protocol works
• Its role in modern AI architectures
• How to set up an MCP server
• How to connect it to OpenEdge backends

Using an example implementation, our speakers will demonstrate the practical steps for integration. It will quickly become clear that an AI assistant is much more than just an improved search function – it opens up a completely new way to interact with applications and data.

In this session, Stefan Freystätter will explain how Microsoft services like Outlook and Teams can be directly integrated into existing ERP systems using the Graph API – and what new opportunities this integration creates.
